Educational Workshops

Are you a troop leader for the Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts? Did you know they offer a badge in Geocaching? Do you want a unique and different presentation at your event? Do you think your group or organization might enjoy learning about Geocaching? For large or small groups, we now offer educational workshops!

Wildflower Festival PresentationAs geocaching in our area has grown over the years, the Ridgecrest Geocachers have been presenting workshops such as Randsburg Old West Days and the Annual Wildflower Festival since 2011.

We often have a space where we give presentations tailored to the area, show a slide show and hold Q & A sessions. We also would have a booth where we talk to visitors who stop by about geocaching and answer questions they may have.

As Geocaching continues to grow, we've started holding educational workshops at the local library, schools and for local Girl Scout troops. We have even worked with the local schools to help develop a Geocaching STEM program.

Library SetupFor the small educational workshops, not only do we teach your group about the major aspects of geocaching but we also locate the nearest geocache container or hide one (either temporary or permanently) so we can take them out to find their first geocache and help them with any issues they may have.

All we need is a medium sized table to hold geocache examples and pamphlets, a blank wall or projection screen and a projector that can be hooked up to a computer (we provide) for the presentation. An available internet connection is prefered but not required. Most workshops last approximately an hour. The presentation is about 30 minutes and we always stick around to answer questions or provide any help finding a local geocache or with GPS devices or smartphone apps.

Below are just some of the groups we have worked with, developed programs or presented workshops for:

This is a FREE service we have provided for many years. Donations are welcome but not required. If you are interested in us teaching your group about geocaching, contact Jennifer Leonard at least 2 weeks in advance.
